But damned if I know how to review it. It puts Jake in the position of trying to deconstruct not just the psychology of a rober, but of kin as well. However the author not only went overboard on the minute details, but the characters I am always looking for a good scary read, and I had high hopes for this one. Give me a break. I marveled at first, because I thought, wow, he must have some amazing pay-off the way he is doing this. However, Bloodman becomes ridiculous. Soon Jake finds himself dragged into the bloody case, all the while trying to care for a father he never wanted to see again. Jake is only there because his late mother would have expected him to look after his father. Fantastic set-up, breakneck pacing, and a surprise ending made for a fine read.


Jake feels he needs to at least make an appearance, get some things settled, close up the house, etc. This makes it no less worth reading by any measure.
